thinking abt bagginshield and how it’s a non conventional version of “the grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one”

bilbo lives a perfect safe happy life, and he’s absolutely a grumpy rich middle aged man

thorin has been through unbelivable trauma and is constantly on edge and ready to fight at any moment because that’s the life he’s become accustomed to, and he’s still shown to be polite and joyful when his friends break into song and whatnot, we just mostly see him dealing with the weight of trying to reclaim erebor

that’s something that gets me about the acorn scene when taken in that perspective, thorin is suffering from dragon sickness and this little grumpy hobbit who he’s developed such a liking to shows him a moment of vulnerability that brings him such joy that it breaks through his affliction for just a moment.

i just want people to acknowledge that their dynamic is so incredibly interesting and isnt just tough masculine dwarf and his small innocent man wife

being an ot3 fan is so fun. there's like ten people who get the vision. everyone else is busy biting each other's dicks off about who really deserves to love and be loved by shirayuki. never mind that obi and zen are constantly trying to climb into each other's skin, they are Doing Battle For Her Hand and one of them will emerge victorious and expel the other from her sight forever. eventually. definitely. trust me guys any day now.

an ot3 reading ive never understood is saying zen and obi aren't sure if they care about each other for each other or just for shirayuki. obi falls for both of them around the same time (perhaps even at the same time), but zen is the first to offer reciprocity, and it's because of him that shirayuki gives obi a chance. he's the one to decide on obi as her guard and the one to convince her to keep the hairpin obi gave her. zen is loudly jealous all the time but he's never truly seen their relationship as rivalry. i could get behind the idea that obi has, if only to declare himself the loser, because now that they have each other, they couldn't possibly want him too, right? but of course they do. he's here to stay.
