Repotted this group of aloe that needed a fresh pot. I guess I didn’t realize how many were fitting together until I broke them all apart! One reason I like this plant is the way the plants only grow in two directions as opposed to many other aloe that grow in a rosette form.

Distichous phyllotaxis, also called "two-ranked leaf arrangement" is a special case of either opposite or alternate leaf arrangement where the leaves on a stem are arranged in two vertical columns on opposite sides of the stem.

I never realized initial misidentification was Like, A Thing for lesbians. like I thought I was bi, then pan, then ace, then I was like full lesbian. thank god j went through that before mogai because honestly that would have made it a million times harder I would been some demihetromantic queerquasiplatonic asexual or something (I literally do not know nor understand mogai terms and I Do Not Care To)

Welp – this guy’s leaves are in fact NOT distichous.

in the past few weeks the leaves went from growing opposite of each other on their stem, to slowlyyy starting to form a whorl. oh well! i love him all the same. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

this is one of my favorite aloes. i REALLY hope that it remains distichous, but i guess i’ll just have to wait and see!
