Speaking of magic what schools or studies of magic do your abilities come from. Or does Ascension assign them to you.

A claw scratches his cheek in thought, where to begin with this particular topic.

“Humans are innately magical, although many to such a faint degree to be unnoticeable or even unusable, yet still each has their own innate inclination towards certain fields. Reaching outside of that is... difficult, but it can occur with some aid.

The magic that I, (and by extention other Ascended) have been imbued with, ‘forced open’ capabilities that I (and others) did not have before, not limited them to it.

I have had the.. fortune to have a long and learned life, with many opportunities to explore the many branches the rivers of magic flow along. Thanks to the magics I am imbued with both affording me both the time and capacity to devote to the study of them.

Elemental magics are the ones I am least skilled in (but by no means have a less-than-impressive grasp on). An important factor with those is simply understanding how the world works, and I’ve had plenty time to grow familiar with most.

Spiritual magics are much more my forté. Although oft dismissed as weaker due to their less showy displays of power to those without the capability to sense them, they’re nonetheless powerful.

“The new analyst under your command...how long has he served in the Intelligence division?”

Fenriux glanced up from the datapad in his claws, and set it aside and stood up. “Pherios? A year or so, now. You remind me, his performance review is due. What about him?”

Providentius nodded. “I remember the name. When you make the arrangements for his evaluation, I would like to also be in attendance; in a non-official capacity only, you can make mention of this to him if he is worried about my presence.”

Fenriux raised an eyebrow plate. “So what is your intention, then?”

“Same as yours, only less official.”

“Point being? He faced your trials, and you considered him worthy. What left is there for you to except for a rehash?”

“He did, in part. His intentions during the sparring were...pragmatic, but not necessarily selfless. He has talent, and skill, but it has to be properly nurtured to be of benefit of others. I would see how he has grown since then, under your tutelage.”

Fenriux chuckled. “So it is to be assessment of my own skills to mentor and to lead?”

Providentius nodded slowly. “In part, but also to see how receptive he is to teaching.”

“Heh. Well, I hope to provide a good accounting of the both of us, then.”

Do you keep any pets such as jackals or crocodiles?

The question was met with a simple stare along with a stony silence just long enough to be uncomfortable.

“I care for a few species of endagered insects. That is all.”

Does anything you do or things that have happened in your life influence what you have ascended as or is it completely random, and if it is would you like to do it all over again?

An uneasy sort of sigh hissed between his teeth, hand scratching behind his ear.

The Curator didn’t know.

“There’s evidence to show that what they were in their previous life influences the form they take when they Ascend, but I am not sure of the specifics.

The ritual most likely attempts to shape them into something intrinsic to them as a base, but whether or not it succeeds-.”, elaborated the jackal, although that last part was more spoken into his fist than aloud.

“Given that my brothers and sisters took on the traits of creatures that dwelled within our lands, it stands to reason that peoples’ experiences and perceptions had shaped what they became. The question is whether it was internal or external influences that were the deciding factor.”

Scratching his head one last time, Nasus looked downcast. “As curious as I am of the inner workings of it, perhaps it is best that such knowledge remained buried with the priests who practiced it, especially in such tumultuous times. I was not privy to the details despite my stature, and perhaps it is better that way. Yet it still pains me that there are precious few of my peers, and... necessarily fewer, in time.”

If you were to have a Pokemon team, what would it consist of?

It’s all fossils. He’s got ones from yesteryear and has an unfair advantage because of it. No I’m not biased because I love fossils and Rock-types myself.

Can you explain your abilities or magic a bit what exactly happens when you slow some one. And what is the magical death circle .

“To properly explain my capabilities with magic would likely require longer than the rest of your hopefully long and fruitful time upon this planet...

But those particular uses, if I’m not mistaken about what you refer to, are wholly destructive, and nowhere near as benign as you make them out to be.

The former is an accelerated version of a wasting disease that I unfortunately know all too well. They are not simply slowed, their body putrefies and they perish. Painfully, I might add. It is not a pleasant fate.

The latter? I have learned to harness the powers of fires that burn not just the body but one’s soul as well. Mortals mostly only consider damage to the body, but there are other parts to people that can be harmed as well. Psychological warfare is somewhat known to be a thing but very few realize that there’s a more intrinsic part to a person that can be harmed, too.”
