44. What is a book that you love, but has a terrible cover?
not to drag a 35 year old book but contact by carl sagan 😔😔😔 its so boring where’s the flavour
hiya, i checked the pcos tag but couldn't find anything - if there's a possibility of having pcos, what has to happen before you can go on testosterone? do they have to do any scans, and if it turns out i do have it, do they have to treat it at all first? my first blood tests showed a possibility which means there's a delay as they investigate but i don't know how many things might need to be done.
generally treatment of PCOS is aimed at several things: hormones to lower testosterone and regulate your cycles (you might not be interested in these); meds to help decrease the risk of diabetes you would have (PCOS comes with a dysregulation in your endocrine system so you don’t do the thing with insulin as efficiently as other people); and meds to keep your cholesterol in check. Depending on what your labs show (do you have impaired insulin sensitivity?, is your cholesterol out of whack?) you might be able to get away with treating it mostly with diet and exercise. There’s no science reason why you’d need to hold off on T if you’re ready to start now. Any treatment that you’d need would be the same later (if you have insulin resistance, you’ll be treated the same as another person with insulin resistance, male or female; if you have high cholesterol you’ll be treated the same as another person with high cholesterol, male or female). Your doctor may feel differently because they want to get things “at a baseline” but honestly, the rule is “if it’s not going to change treatment, don’t do it.” (in this case, no valid reason to hold hormone therapy off from someone who would be treated the same before or after starting hormones.) They may opt to do scans (internal ultrasound is the current gold standard- it’s the wand one that goes inside) to see if you currently have cysts, but if you’re not having cystic symptoms (just having the other common endocrine symptoms like weight gain, hairy, irregular periods etc), then they commonly skip that.

In the dystopian beverage wasteland that is the US, they’re not very common. :)

3. Most humble VS Most arrogantPho probaby wins the Humble Award. He is deeply uncomfortable with the idea of being seen as any kind of hero or exemplar, something which mounts up to an ongoing identity crisis considering he’s sort of a Solar of Note whether or not he wants to be.Daia is definitely the most arrogant. She may hold herself to high personal standards, but they are standards she herself set because she sees herself as someone capable of reaching them. She’s not without her own self-worth issues but if Phoenix deals with failure and tragedy by directing blame inward at himself, Daia does the opposite. 19. Cast iron stomach VS Most squeamishHarv is definitely the least squeamish character I have. When necrosurgery is your vocation, you need to build of a tolerance for nasty, nasty sights and smells. It’s worth noting that working with rotting meat on a regular basis has somewhat decreased the amount of meat he actually eats. He always preferred vegetable dishes, and now he prefers them more.Prophet is probably my most squeamish character, despite the fact he’s a literally a humanoid spider. Blood, grime, muck and gore all make him feel a bit green around the gills, to speak nothing of his own occasional cravings for live bugs and (egad!) small mammals.
Tumblr Mobile is so weird - your icon is still a rook when I check out my activities section or when I check my reblogs. See screenshot above 🙄
