no distrait reading again

whoops whoops whoops
I forgot to mention, but alas, I am not at home! So no Distrait reading today. Maybe tomorrow, depending on how things are going.
more distrait! yay!
I forgot to do the 24 hour warning, because I stumbled out of bed at six and still haven’t really woken up 15 hours later, but! distrait readings on skype! still a thing!
this week I’ll be tackling And all I can do and This Love That Has No Nature. Same time, 9am AEST, slightly less than 12 hours from now.
ping me sometime in the next twelve hours on Skype at Ashkatom if you want in, even if you were in the chat last time! I have the memory of a goldfish and will instantly forget you asked me to add you to the call unless I can look at my recent messages in skype and go ‘ah yes, people exist.’
if you are nervous about wanting to join in: don’t be! it is super fun and I think that this week, with This Love That Has No Nature, is going to be a heck of a good time to join the party. I mean, if your party metrics are ‘pained noises of emotional trauma’, and I don’t know why they wouldn’t be.
so the distrait reading was fun!
I got through Search for the Face of Love and Into the Purple Night Sky before my throat was all, ‘bruh, you’ve talked more in the past few hours than you have in the past few months. stop.’ I was pretty nervous about whether people would actually like my reading or not, since the last time I read something to anyone was high school, but apparently they did!
I did not do the Agness voice. I did do the sex noises, and I would apologise but I’m not sorry. Bless my family and the fact that I scared them out of the house by screeching the arguments between Karkat and Eridan before I got to the porn. I don’t think they’ve heard me swear so much since I was still working fast food.
I am also now under contractual obligation to record some Cronus logs with the most obnoxious Tasmanian accent I can muster. Darls.
Anyway, after my throat tendered its resignation, we sat around for... like, six more hours, with people telling anecdotes, which is one of my favourite things in the world. Then I had to go conk out for a bit since voice calls always wear me out for some reason and I still have this fucking chapter of OLOH that will never end to write, and Fi started reading everyone who was left Tetris porn.
It was a good time, is what I’m saying! And since a whole bunch of people had a whole bunch of fun, me included, I’m gonna make it a weekly thing and at least work my way through the main verse. Y’all are welcome to drop in and out as you so desire - I think I can probably handle two instalments a week, which conveniently leaves Bound to its own week, but I’ll still post up which stories I’m tackling in the announcements beforehand.
I had such a good time, guys. I hope those of you that came did too, and that it continues being an excellent time in future.
Search for the Face of Love Drinking Game
Been thinking about this! Creating a drinking game: something much more difficult than the win state of ‘get incredibly drunk’ implies.
Reciprocal Readings
So! As promised, I’ll be reading Search for the Face of Love and possibly more depending on how we go on Skype, starting at 9am Saturday AEST, which is just over 24 hours from now. Here is a handy list of the time it will be in a whole bunch of places, but for easy reference for a lot of you, it’ll be 6pm Friday in Mexico City and 7pm Friday in New York City.
Hit me up on Skype at Ashkatom if you want to be added to the call when it starts! You’re also more than welcome to ping me to be added during the event, but you’ll have to wait for an appropriate scene break. I’ll be reblogging this post 12 hours, 6 hours, 1 hour, and 30 minutes before, and right when we start. If you want to block these shenanigans, I’ll be tagging them all distrait reading.
There may also be a drinking game. If you are of the legal age to be drinking in your country and enjoy getting smashed while an Australian reads you fanfic - hey, I don’t judge - come prepared. I’ll figure out some rules and post them up sometime today, and suggestions are 100% welcomed.
Iiiii think that’s everything.
