A comic touch? With the prospects & potentials of A.I. so wide & weird, a light-hearted approach is vital. (A.I. also gives this project a potentially vast audience. Humanity needs to talk about A.I.!)

Potential of Distributed Processing as Large as the Internet Itself!
Once upon a time (about 20 years ago) there was a program called SETI – the Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence. You could download a screensaver – that would switch on when you logged off – to use your computer’s processing power to crunch astronomical radio data, searching for signs of alien life.
This ‘volunteer computing’ wasn’t the first use of this amazing concept, but it soon spread…

The mind is, after all, not a textbook; it does not necessarily subdivide our our experiences or cognitions into neat categories. Instead, the mind creates cognitive processes that can involve a number of different functions. Just as a symphony is created by many instruments, all working together in an orchestra to create the harmonies and melodies of a particular composition, cognitive processes are created by many specialized brain areas, all working together to create a distributed pattern of activity that creates all of the different components of that particular cognition.

So my computer has spent the last seven hours helping SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence), you know, search for extraterrestial intelligence. I can't get over how cool this is. : My computer is searching for aliens in it's spare time. xD. My humble wee desktop rig. If you're interested in also finding the fuck out of some aliens and are reasonably sure your rig won't overheat on 100% load for hours at a time (I never went above 37°C, yay for liquid cooling xD ), then go check it out. And when choosing projects, find 'SETI'. p.s., don't judge, aliens are, by sheer dint of probability alone, far more likely to exist than any kind of 'creator', and there's plenty of people who believe that shit. ¬_¬. I'm just saying, I know which group I find more deserving of scorn >.>.
