I’ll admit I’m not too sure about the oracle machine thing.
I’ve never studied mathematical logic or Computability theory. (I study history if you’re curious)
Closest thing I can think of is the Oracle project by Vintage Eight. But idk if that’s what you mean.
Their analog horror works are a mixed bag. Some of it is incredible. Some of it is okay and some of it is just schlocky pulpy horror movie bullshit.
yooo u study history? thats cool!! (any specific type of history?) i don't study math or computers either i just read books and they stay in my brain
the oracle machine is a concept theorized by alan turing which he immediately decided was not useful to his purposes (decoding) and therefore did not pursue. the machines we use today are all pretty much what he would call a-machines (automatic machines), which means they do their processing on their own, without external influence save for commands.
the oracle machine is a theoretical machine that consults an "oracle" during its process. turing did not specify what this oracle might be, though he noted that the oracle must not be a machine. it could be a cockroach, or the wind, or a bucket of water, or any number of other things. i just think its neat.
(apparently a neural net studying ripples in water is better at voice recognition than a neural net studying the sound directly!! i just keep thinking about that)
side note, "schlocky pulpy horror movie bullshit" kinda has a beat to it, that'd make a good title for something or other
