Sweltering is the only way to describe today. I would be putting myself through my paces in this blaze with @districtrunningcollective (#drc #districtrunningcollective #runwithus) but the prodigal son has returned! Lenox is back from a month and half stint with family and I wore yellow to celebrate. Trying to press up from seated? Easy Way: Bend your knee! This Astanga transition is seen in the seated Marichyasana series when transitioning from asana to chaturanga. The elbow (my right in this video) hooks the lowest part of the shin it can reach and acts as an axis. Try using the transition to chaturanga, then to crow pose, then maybe a tucked hand stand if you're nasty. Hard Way: Sit in dandasana and press into the ground with palms flat. Tuck your knees into your chest as you lift, leaning forward. The key here is "The Lean" which allows legs to transition through stilt-like arms. This forward movement of the shoulders allows one to lift the tailbone up ⬆️ and back ➡️ so the legs make it through without touching. Keeping elbows over wrists (even if they bend and include the biceps for moral support) is key to successfully clearing little toes floating back to Chaturanga or Vrksasana (handstand).
