I used to be in a very toxic friendship and I’m really glad I’m out of it because some of my favorite animals are cheetahs and mountain lions but I was never ‘allowed’ to obsess over them after I met her cause cats were ‘her thing’ :)

i don’t think people who ask for free art/complain about “overpricing” realize that, for an artist who literally relies on their artwork to make money, they aren’t the highest-end customer that artist is going to eventually reach.

it’s actually considered unprofessional to a lot of bigger studios/people to under price. it means the artist isn’t experienced enough to accurately judge how much their artwork is worth, or that they’re under-confident.

there’s a difference between under-pricing to random college students/millennials on the internet for casual commissions of their oc, and knowing what your art is actually worth and charging accordingly (to people who claim to be “professional”). if someone in the second category ever hisses about prices, it’s a huge red flag. stay away from them and mark them down as a client you’re not willing to take.
