The night was calm. The white shine of the moon painted the tops of Academia like soft silk. The stars dotted the sky, giving it a serene look. Caius lay asleep within the bedroom of his now silent home. How long had it been since Claire had died? Days? Months? Years? Time now had little meaning to him now.
Caius tossed and turned, nightmares had haunted his mind since the death of his wife. In these dreams, he would stand on the shores of Valhalla. All would be calm, at first. He would look in front of him, and see Claire, and their child. Claire looked at him and smiled as she gently rocked the child back and forth in her arms. He looked at them with shock, as if they were really there. Suddenly the sky begin to flash with lightning and the roaring sound of thunder began to stab his ears. The air grew chilly as he looked out to the sea. A huge wave began to take form, it released a loud roar as if it were tearing through buildings. He darted his gaze back at his wife and child. They looked out at the sea with fear. Caius tries to move towards them, but he is stuck. Claire looked back at him. "Caius?" She says with a worried tone. Caius looked at Claire and then back to the wave. What could he do? Caius continued to try to move, attempting to jerk his legs out of their place on the floor. He finally gets free, but it is too late. Claire yells out his name as the wave consumes her and their child.
Caius quickly sat up in his bed. He was sweating heavily and his breathing was heavy. He looked around the room to see it was empty, and then, he looked to where Claire once slept. He took time to recover from his dream and then stood up and went towards the living room.
