[ Caius ]
A Rival
Yes, that is what she had been. The warrior chosen first by the Goddess Etro, then by none other than the God of Light, Bhunivelze, to serve as his holy savior, a beacon to his new haven for the souls of a dying husk. He looked at her with his usual stern expression in play, a barrier as to prevent any hints to what he was thinking.
‘Speak.’
His mind broke him from his train of thought. Their need to fight had faded into the mists of time after the collapse of the old world. But nonetheless, their sudden reunion brought no pleasure to mind. Finally, breaking the silence of their bitter encounter, he spoke.
“So, the former Savior yet again makes an appearance before me. It would seem that the strands of fate continue to happen upon us two meeting by skirmish or by convenience.”
≼Salvation≽ ░█{ϟ}——Silence for a moment longer lingered between them once his words had came to halt. This was a man who knew her better then anyone in just the moments they spent crossing swords. The way a person moved and held their own said more then words ever could and she knew that as she had watched the way he moved for years.
Brushing her tongue along her lips tiers parted with a soft exhale falling behind them.
❝ Must be fate, never thought I’d see you again in this big old world. ❞
“Hmph”
A snort of amusement escaped his lips as a faint smile seemed to grace his usual expressionless features. Caius glanced to the sky for a brief moment, almost as if looking out to their past life.
Meeting his eyes with Lightning’s once more, he spoke.
“Perhaps it is we share a common desire of scenery after being bound to the same endless war for so long... Even though our lives are no longer guided by an invisible hand we’ve always seemed to be bound to each other in one way or another.”
