The inside of her chest cavity felt like an inferno— each shaky intake of breath stabbing at her lungs. Oxygen was quickly depleting, but despite it all, Invisigal willed her legs to carry her onward down the trash littered alleyway. While sabotaging Malevola in her attempt to catch Lightningstruck had been pretty amusing at the time, it wasn’t quite as funny now that she was running out of breath.. the demoness hot on her tail with sword in tow. Unsurprisingly, her asthma had struck again at the most inconvenient of times. Was this karma catching up to her for all her past wrongdoings?
Ducking between and diving over dumpsters, Invisigal could feel her breaths becoming more laboured. Just a few more steps and she’d be able to lose her, right? Wrong.
Turning the corner, she was forced to slam on the brakes, coming to a screeching halt at a dead end, a brick wall too high to climb in her state rendering her trapped. Shit! Had she taken a wrong turn somewhere? She swore that wall hadn’t been there earlier! “Oh fuck me, you gotta be kidding me!” If only she’d been blessed with the power to soar the skies like Flambae, right? She’d be able to fly right out of here. Unfortunately.. no such luck.
Instead, her burning lungs became too much to ignore, Invisigal pressing her back to the wall in defeat just as Malevola made her appearance.
“..Is it too late to call a time out? A little truce?” Sarcasm uttered out between pants of ragged breaths, Invisigal shakily reached into her jacket pocket to fetch her inhaler, immediately bringing it up to her mouth to take a few desperate puffs through a fit of splutters and coughs. While yes, she could disappear to make it more difficult for Malevola to take a swing at her if she saw fit.. it wouldn’t do much when she could so obviously hear her wheezing. She was totally screwed. Just had to hope Malevola was willing to forgive and forget, huh? Either that, or hope she was in a good mood.
