Hey who remembers how much I loved the Zodiac Trial? WELL, I'm here to shill for it's creator Themis yet again, as he dropped another game earlier this month, and BOY OH BOY was it a goodie.

The Divine Deception is a political thriller visual novel with seven different protagonists going through their own stories in the city of Panthea - navigating corruption in government, corporations, gangs, ect - though all their stories do wind up interconnecting in some interesting ways :)
Themis learned a lot about game-making from Zodiac Trial and it SHOWS - holy shit this baby's definitely quite a bit higher quality, a much stronger story, and. god. now that i'm thinking about it again, i just wanna simp for best protag lock again.
though i must warn this is quite a bit darker in tone then The Zodiac Trial was, but it's also just. so clever and good. the foreshadowing to how all the pieces fit together gets more and more real the more i've thought over it. The individual stories just kept me so on-the-edge-of-my-seat with so many 'HOLY SHIT??' moments that i NEEDED to see what would happen next, and i was never disappointed with the payoffs.
there's also fun minigames throughout the story that earn you chips you can use to bet on story events, and the more chips you've got, the more bonus goodies you can buy after you beat the game. there's some neat stuff there, nice little icing-on-the-cake
great game, probably my fave visual novel i've played lately, deserves a lot more attention then what it's gotten so far. if you wanna support you local indie devs, i am handing you a silver platter
