This was. So immensely stupid an idea.
Charlotte bit down her groan as the crowd began to shuffle its way into pairs. Her axe, so preciously taken care of and carefully sharpened, rested comfortably on her shoulder. Swap weapons? She didn’t wanna swap weapons. Bad enough she had to worry about people learning how strong she was and that she could actually fight, now they wanted her showing that off? No way! Absolutely not! There was nothing they could do that would convince her tooooo-
okay maybe an attractive and obvious rich looking guy could convince her to stick this out for a little while.
“Oh, hello!” Charlotte smiled like a perfect little angel as she slid over to the knight, cutting off some loser’s approach before they had the chance. She heard them grumble behind her and wander off to find another partner, but she just kept smiling like nothing at all had happened.
“I’m so sorry, I don’t mean to be a bother, but...well I’m fairly new and I don’t really know anyone that well yet.” She laughed sheepishly and worked up a faint blush, just a touch, a splash of color for the intrigue. “It’s a little scary at times...but anyways, I was wondering, if it’s not a trouble, would you be my partner for this?”
She lowered her axe and let the blade rest on the floor, as if just the act of carrying it was exhausting (as if). She brushed some hair behind her ear and smiled again. “Please?”
