The investigation into The Carver case had been at a stand still. Well, it was long before Sterling joined the case. He'd used his contacts to cast a wider net but nothing had come back. Nothing of real significance. The man who had tortured Agent Miller, the hydra agent who carved The Hanged Man tarot card into his friend's back, was still at large. As far as Sterling knew that was the end of it. That was the last The Carver had been heard of.
Until, perhaps, a few days ago.
The SHIELD agent in a full suit, tie, and slicked back black hair stepped into Madam Calderu's shop. Sterling was wildly out of place in this setting, physically and mentally, and he did nothing to hide his own awkwardness about it as he looked around and walked timidly deeper into the establishment. This wasn't his first time in a shop of this nature, far from it, but it never stopped being out of his element. Magic and Sterling didn't mix and when they did it had proven to be nothing but a disaster for him. However, his business here was of a much tamer purpose. Hopefully there would be no magic involved. After all, this Madam Calderu could be a complete fake. Perhaps he should have called Miranda instead.
That might have been a bit too awkward for him.
"Hello?" He called out, looking for the owner. "Madam... Calderu? Am I saying that right?"
