🎵I love this place cause it's yours and it's mine/ Nothing is a waste of time 🎶

Do your dogs like fruit? Dixie absolutely loves to try new ones.
Pineapple, banana, pomegranate, mango, apple, melon, blackberry, pear, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry and now dragonfruit
(The only one she hasn't cared for overly was oranges)
This little cat just loves Dixie--
So. Damn. Much.
A neighbor gave us a pet carriage, and Dixie is living her very ✨best✨ couch potato life in this heat wave. (Pretty sure she's going to demand rides in this thing in the snow, too)
The Parnassius butterflies are always fun-- their wing tips are semi transparent. And that hairy rove beetle was a cool find but it really wanted a piece of me.
So many berries!
Dixie's ranking is:
Wild strawberries > red huckleberries > mountain blackberries > salmonberries > purple huckleberries > thimbleberries, but she likes them all.
(Not sure that she's made the connection between the bushes and the berries though-- she just thinks I spontaneously spawn fruit treats sometimes.)
Craves food vs. Craves violence
The tale of Jiminy Christmas comes to a close! Aka our first foster.
An intact neighborhood cat showed up on our doorstep limping heavily. He couldn't bear weight on his front leg, and had clearly been fighting with other cats (wounded ear, multiple healing scratches, injured paw pads).
We couldn't leave him outside to be coyote bait, so we brought him in while we searched through lost pet reports and posted him to our neighborhood groups trying to find his people.
Jimbo had no microchip and the leg was a suspected bruised muscle, so we treated him for fleas, gave him some time to heal, and kept him out of the shelter during the New Year's rush of lost pets spooked by fireworks.
When he had gained a little weight, knew how to use a litter box, and was on four feet again, he went to the local animal shelter to complete his stray hold.
We had considered adopting him if no one came forward, but he was eventually reclaimed; he'll be neutered and sent back home today.
I have some mixed feelings, but I'll count Jiminy's safety and neutering a success. No more kittens sired from this boy! ❤️❤️
