Tamara & JT’s School of Life Bus is home built and so cozy. On their blog, they explain all the how to’s, etc. I love a hippie style DIY bus.
Isn’t the mountainside where they live, pretty?
Almost everything in the bus is reclaimed and repurposed by JT. The only things they bought were a hot water heater, propane tank, wood burning stove, solar panels, batteries, and a propane cooking stove.
The cabinets were dated “pull-outs” found on Craigslist, (they look nice painted), and the fridge is a used one from an old camper. JT made the wood countertops.
Handy spice rack and that’s the new propane stove.
JT says this small wood burning stove will cook you out of the bus. It’s small and has to be tendered often, but that’s part of the fun. When they have a power source, they switch to an infrared heater, that’s also very hot, but it has a thermostat.
Closet space in the little hall to the bedroom- they use a composting toilet that eliminates the need for a water tank.
Colorful, comfy bed. The baby has a crib that hangs from the foot of the bed, and when he gets older, the sofa is a pull-out.
So, what do they do for money? This is the “garage,” and for income, JT scored a job as an at-home auto estimate auditor. Tamara substitute teaches. They have a fascinating story.
