Finally had time to finish book one and oh my fucking god 😭

I have a lot of thoughts, but I’ll just condense the most prominent ones rn:

The mutts??? Horrifying. Catos death? Sickening. Everlarks ending for this book? Devastating. Remembering that these kids are literally just kids, only 3 years older than my brother makes all of this hit even harder tbh. Aside from the obvious concerning amount of traumatic events, that they will undoubtedly be reliving until they die, imagine experiencing your first heartbreak in the midst of The Literal Horrors?? High school me barely survived an amicable breakup with someone I hated. You put my ass in Trauma, The Reality Show, and then make me confront the reality of being in love with someone I’ve convinced myself I can never have because of the state of the world, while also being forced to be close to them, and pretend like we’re living out our #whitepicketfence fantasy? Would’ve been sprawled out on those train tracks.
