Eric sounds thoughtful!

He's amazingly thoughtful. He puts Evie's and my happiness over everything, to a fault. He told me once that he wakes up every day planning to make me smile in some way and I can't remember a single day he hasn't accomplished that in the almost 6 years that we've been together, even when we were going through the worst times. Even when I was suffering from my worst depression and anxiety, he still made it happen.

It's weird to have that. My parents have always tried to teach me that money was the key to a happy life. I mean, they never said that outright but I got the gist from the way they always preached about making a good living, saving money, owning a house, etc. We don't have a lot (though things are definitely getting better) but we have love and that's what happiness is about. I've tried to explain this to my dad and he just doesn't understand. He's absolutely sure that people can't stay happy together if they're broke. I wish he could see how untrue that is but he never will. He's too set in his ways.

Granted, not having enough money does put a strain on a relationship but we've always been great at communication so it hasn't really messed with our relationship. I love how we can talk to each other about anything without getting into yelling matches. I grew up with constant fighting (verbal and otherwise) and I swore I wouldn't let Evie grow up the same way and it's actually working out the way I hoped. We raise our voices so infrequently that even when we're messing around and yelling about dumb stuff, Evie gets freaked out because she can't comprehend why we would be yelling at each other, for any reason.

Sorry about the long rant. Sometimes I just have to gush about how lucky I am to have him.
