shouls i dox myslef (my sxhool and voice and actual first name) to get u guys (my lovely mutuals) to listen to my radio show (this wednesday 11am-noon chicago time)
Soo, I dont know if I’ve talked about this on this blog, but Im a DJ (event DJ not club DJ). My dad is a retired DJ. Well, one of his buddies at work asked if he could play a cash bash to raise money for a charity (they are a breast cancer charity). He doesn’t really take gigs anymore, but volunteered me and my brother (we make a good team and its a lot less stressful when there are two of us - on top of that, our sister is a breast cancer survivor, so how could we say no).
Its not uncommon for DJs to play charity gigs at discounted prices or completely for free. Often we use them as a way to get our names out there and pick up some bigger gigs. So I wasn’t expecting to get much, if anything, from this.
It was a bigger event, but not a wedding by any means, if it wasnt a charity event, it probably would have cost about $600.
As we were walking out the door after everything, my dads friend handed us $300, which we split. And That $300 was a surprise. A day later, a lady from the charity called my dad (I guess she got the number from my dads friend) and she said that their charity wants me and my brother to play at all of their events and was worried the $300 wasnt enough. He assured her it was more than enough. She sent us another $200 anyway. You best believe that $200 is being saved for us to spend at their next event.
Anyways being as it is October, if you have the funds for it and want to support a great Breast Cancer charity, check out The Chester Foundation
