Does Djael know that her son is Sith, and does Selk know that his mom is a Jedi? What would happen if the two of them met?
At this point in time, neither of them know. Selk doesn’t even remember his own name, let alone what his family was like, and the last time Djael saw Selk he was just a little kidlet with no face markings. Neither would recognize the other
I might be skating into Mary Sue territory here but I do think that one or other—especially Djael—might be able to sense something if they were around each other. They’re a strongly Force-sensitive family; Selk was able to use a sort of mind trick/stealth ability on instinct without being trained, because all of his emotions and willpower centered on that one thing: trying to hide, trying to stay safe. Meanwhile, Djael’s emotions have been bent on her family for years now, and being accepted by the Jedi Order didn’t change that. If she doesn’t already have a vague feeling that some of her family is still alive out there, she might sense it if they had the chance to actually meet.
plus I already filled my quota of Imperial/Republic parent/child splits where neither has any clue about the other with Matt’hew/Dathen
I don’t think I’ll be able to resist setting up them meeting somehow. It’s statistically improbable but THIS IS STAR WARS and it was made for indulgences u_u
What would happen if they met would be highly dependent on the exact situation and who else is involved, but honestly I don’t think it would be a violent confrontation even if both remained ignorant of who the other was. Even when he was the most dutiful apprentice ever, Selk never killed unless it was something he was ordered to do, and he’s even less likely to start a confrontation when he’s out drifting on his own.
A likely scenario, I think, would be a meeting where she realizes who he is but not the other way around, and while he’s all “we don’t need to fight, let’s just go our separate ways” she stops him because don’t you know who I am? There would be a lot of crazy intense conflicted emotions on her part because not only would it be finding a member of her scattered family, but her baby, that she knew was bought for the purpose of being fed to wild animals and the one the last one she’d expect to survive. But he’s still a Sith, which puts a pause on that instinct to run up and hug the life out of him. I think there would be some halfhearted attempt to get him to join the Jedi, not so he can “join the Light,” but so she can have him back.
I have a hard time wrapping my mind around Selk’s reaction because I think the idea of even having a mother in the first place would blow his mind more than the bit about her being a Jedi.
