What powers do you possess, strange being?
"Do you want the short version or the comprehensive list?" He coughed and gave a small laugh. “Pardon me, my own little joke. Like all of my people, I have the power of teleportation and telekinesis- of myself and other objects and people, the gift of tongues- intelligent languages translate themselves in my head, and translate themselves coming out- and matter rearrangement on a minor scale." To demonstrate, he waves his hand, causing his clothes to take on a very smokey feel before rearranging themselves into a different design. “Through my genie training I have learned to control wish magic, to sense desire and use it as a guide, and to find the weak points in the walls between universes and move through them. I also have a gift that only a small percentage of my kind possess, the ability to transform myself into a non-corporeal form- in my case, I can change my body to smoke. It is primarily a defense mechanism, but it has other uses as well."
Aspects of Djinn's culture that *don't* apply to him.
Because we are shaped by our culture, but it isn't all we are.
Tricks. Djinn's people- wish-granters in particular- are very arrogant (this part does apply to Djinn) and like to remind the other universes that they're smarter. One of the ways they do this is to trick them and twist their wishes so that they go wrong for them. Djinn, however, doesn't like to treat people like this. He's bound by his magic in some ways, but he finds as many loopholes as he can to make sure that people understand (as best as he can tell them) what it is they're asking, what it is they're paying, and that they have to word their wishes carefully. This was, in fact, one of the reasons that Djinn was fired from Genies, Inc, he was considered too open and honest.
Fads. Part of jumping around various universes is that Djinn's people get to see a lot of different ways to interpret 'cloth on bodies'. And they love that. Djinn's people don't have cultural apparel the way most others do (apart from keeping their face covered in some way). They just adopt aspects of things they like from other cultures, and trends tend to run in the direction of whatever happens to be on the other side of the weakest points in the walls between universes. Djinn doesn't follow trends, though; he has a look that he feels works for him and maintains variations of that. (There also tend to be several trends going at once, so it's not uncommon to walk down a street and find some people dressed like they came from the eighteenth century mingling with people that look like that came from Qo'noS.)
Education. Among Djinn's people, education past the basics is still, for the most part, a mark of privilege. Once a person has learned their elementary subjects, they tend to go to work in whatever family business they come from (or have been fostered into). It's only those who can afford it who are able to give their children a higher education. Djinn, however, is part of a movement among his people to make higher education available to anyone who wants it. (This is down to his background- he comes from a poor family in a mining town where pretty much everyone goes to work in the mines, or in supporting the mines in some way, and he had to put his studies second to work until he was able to get the scholarships and grants that allowed him to get proper schooling.)
Some aspects of Djinn's culture that apply to him.
Honesty. Djinn's people are bound by their magic to never lie, but, lying and not telling the truth are not the same thing. Where human children are generally taught not to lie, djinn children are taught how to not tell the truth.
Manners. Manners are considered very important among Djinn's people, and doing something that is considered rude is generally placed on the same level as attacking someone, and can get you shunned much faster. This is particularly true where servants or anyone else who provides a service is concerned- being rude to a servant can get you publicly shamed.
Jewelry. Djinn's people have a fondness for shiny accessories, so it's not uncommon to see a djinn more blinged out than a Disney Princess. By his people's standards, his level of bling is actually subtle.
Headcanon
Djinn tries so hard to be mysterious and suave, but it tends to fall apart pretty quickly as the conversation progresses.
There are only three people in the universes who know Djinn's true name and face, and thus have power over him. They are a wizard, a queen, and a small girl who grew up to be a mighty warrior.Fortunately for Djinn, they don't call much, and they don't occupy the same universes.

((To clarify, Djinn's magic can't create true life, emotions, or memories. He can create imitations of these things, but they tend to be poorly constructed and fall apart under scrutiny. This is because the force that drive these things is life-force, which the magic that grants wishes uses to power itself in the first place.))
Only the Creator can create life.
Even wish magic has its limits. Unfortunately, the things that it can't do are the things that people so often ask me to.
Wish magic cannot create life, nor can it restore life. Dead is dead, it doesn't heal. Bodies can be animated, but life cannot be put in them.
My magic can also not create emotions. You can't wish for someone to love you. However, I can create false emotions. They don't last and a strong enough real emotion can overpower it, but it is doable.
((And the mun won't activate such a wish unless the affected party agrees to it.))
