Praise where praise belonged, and she definitely deserved it. He had formed his reputation not only in the underground society (in the past, mostly) but nowadays at the school he worked at first and foremost; there was no time and no good in mild handling of a situation that would be better off treated with some more brutality, and on the other side it was inappropriate to keep observations of great progress in a student's abilities to oneself.
