Any happy memories of this time of year you'd like to share?

"Hmmm let's see... The last Christmas we had as a full family. My son was just but a space crouton back then... 5 years old. He had helped me pick out a gift for his father. It was a fine festive red housecoat.

My husband loved it, he wore it every chance he could. My little sweetheart would hide in it often when his father was away working.

Even more so when he passed away...

It's the same housecoat you can see my son wearing now, actually. I'm glad it fits him and he's wearing it. he took great care of it too! It looks just as good as it did that Christmas.

I'm sorry... I know you said happy memories, but even bittersweet ones can still bring happiness."

she was unsure what to make of that, at first. the wording suggested that he knew only of what was on the surface, and of course he understood what was beneath all that. not that he’d witnessed it, but phantasma knew she couldn’t hide something so obvious from him. he saw right through it the second they’d met, but she couldn’t bring herself to say so.

for a second, she feels as if that’s all she really needed. to be liked by someone like him.
