Hey gang! The time has come for yet another DAVEKAT WEEK.
DaveKat Week is a little earlier this year (as trying to run this and do school at the same time isn’t going to work out this time for our mods), so the dates we’ve decided on are August 6-August 12.
We are so excited to do DaveKat Week again this year. Every year it grows a little bigger. After 2015, this blog had a little over 200 followers. Now, we’re almost at 800! Spread the word, dust off your homestuck love, and bring your A-Game for our third annual challenge!

If these look familiar, there’s a reason! We’ve repurposed some of our favorite days from the past two years, and gave them some new life.
As always, if you aren’t feeling the themes, you’re welcome to just post whatever content you want, and tag us in it! It will be reblogged on Day 7, the free day!
Our themes this year are:
August 6: Post-Canon/Pre-Canon
Now that Homestuck has finally come to an end, we all know what has to happen. The happily ever after has been achieved in canon, and now it’s up to us to decide what happens after that. Today is a day for the ending after the credits have finished rolling.
Or, alternatively, tell us a little more about what happened before Homestuck started! Did Karkat know any other trolls besides our canon ones? Did Dave always live in Texas? We don’t know all the details, so here’s your opportunity to fill in the blanks!
August 7: AU/Trope Day
Have you been hankering for that cliche coffee shop AU that you just can’t find? Want to see the perfect depiction of that red string of fate? Want to write about what soul marks Karkat and Dave find on themselves? Or maybe you want to see WW2 DaveKat. Maybe you’ve always wanted to write a speakeasy AU. Or, maybe you want to see DaveKat in ~*Space*~. Today is the day for any and all AUs!
August 8: Crossover/Fusion/Remix
Have you ever watched a TV show or movie, read a book, comic or manga, and thought, “Wow, this could really use some Davekat!” Have you been reading a fic, or looking at some fabulous art or media, thinking, “I wonder what the other character’s POV looks like?” or, “Can I read this from the perspective of that shrub?” Well, if you have, then you’re probably not alone. This day is for crossovers, fusions, and remixing those fine works that you hold dear in your soul.
August 9: Sadstuck
We all love to make our favorite characters suffer a little from time to time. Dave and Karkat are no exception to this. Today’s the day to make a little angst. Or a lot of angst. Make that cool kid cry, make that troll cry, make yourself cry. It’s Sadstuck day, which means a lot of crying.
August 10: “Leave it up to Fate” Day
Today, we’re leaving fate up to the machines. That is to say, today will be entirely generated by our handy dandy list of prompt generators! Feel free to use just one, or a couple, or all of them if you want to. Go wild! A list of generators is available on our resources list if you want them, or feel free to find your own!
Or, if you want, try our “Pick One” method from last year! Feel free to pick one word (or more) from however many categories you like, and see if you can incorporate them into your work! Feel free to try and fit in one from each category, or use all of the pieces from one individual category. The world is your Sci-Fi, Kid!Fic, Nightclub in the 1980s based oyster!
We love fluff! And we know you guys do too! After Sadstuck day, who wouldn’t? So, today is the day for any and all fluff! There’s no rules about what kind of fluff, what setting the fluff takes place in, or in what universe. As long as it’s so sweet our teeth rot, your work goes here!
August 12: Free day
After all this wacky writing, we know we just want a chance to create a piece that we think summarizes your feelings about Davekat, and we think you might, too. Today, our final day, is for anything and everything your heart desires! It’s also a good time to finish any other days you might not have before and post them now.
