I need a reylo fanfic that contains the ideas from that anon's sister. Those reasons atleast give Rey a drive and that she wanted the most is her freedom. Like imagine, she finally gets to leave Jakku but she isn't totally free because of the Resistance. The Resistance found out she was force sensitive and wanted her to be the poster child of their organization. She is unsure but grateful that the Resistance is providing her shelter, comfort and necessary resources that she didn't get from her time in Jakku but she feels suffocated by what the Resistance wants her to do in exchange of the comfort. She began to reluctantly do what the Resistance wants but then she realizes...she is not free again. She is not free to choose or what she wants to do with her life. She begins to see the questionable actions of the Resistance and that they are only using her, they don't care about her. Atleast, this gives her some internal conflict.

It certainly would be interesting and somewhat of a humanized look at organizations that put up Resistance which DLF only did in Rogue One alone. It reminds me of Tagore's novel Ghore Bayere which explores the freedom movement of Quit India from perspective of a domestic drama.

See, ideas are PLENTY, its the fact DLF is not using any of them and now its too late. They have done their mistakes there no taking backsies without some serious proverbial groveling and damage control. Its not like Luke Leia kiss which people pretend either never happened or contextualized in a humorous oedipal complex joke. This is a whole ass character killed and then his lover pretending to be his sister or something. THAT IS F*CKED UP. How do you write your way out of that?

Sorry to debate this topic futher I Just find your takes interesting. What is weird for me is that their Personal preferences while Promoting the Sequels were more important than making money. Like isn't this the reason we had an Obiwan series? They want to make money. He was the most popular of Prequels. Or why they CGI-ed Luke after the Han solo failure where they took another actor? What was so different about rey & Kylo for them? Yeah i guess KK had maybe a better relationship with DR than AD (even tho she wanted to have specifically Adam driver for kylo role lol) & maybe wanted to represent Rey as the new female lead in Star Wars to make it more modern. But....how did this make them forget that they are also supposed to make MONEY & it's also about demand?! Kylo wasn't just an unimportant character people tended to like He was the New legacy character.

Ah but you see, Money is NOW a priority BUT STILL NOT ENOUGH to design some ways to rewrite Ben Solo back the same way they did Palpatine( badly but..they did , didn't they?). So Cannot say its still not about personal preference . After all Obi Wan, Han Solo, Luke are well established liked characters too with generally no reputation of being polarizing. Even the takes like "Obi Wan was actually a terrible Master , he failed Qui Gon" is niche, not a mainstream take.

Ben Solo v/s Rey phenomenon is them betting on wrong horse and paying for it.

I also used to think making money would ensure they won't kill Ben Solo back in the day. We may not get Rylo but we will have him alive in some way....LOL look at us now. The opposite happened🤡. THEY ARE PAYING FOR IT, as they deserve.

What hurts the most about Ben's death is ...it' never acknowledged. On the other Hand it gave me comfort that the whole Film wasn't planned out & they likely Just hadn't any idea what to Do with Ben solo as their writing Was Just about Rey. And even she is badly written. So it doesn't feel as a full on tragedy like Titanic and more like an "Oopps sorry guys we ran out of ideas". If I wasn't a Fan of him his death and the whole stuff afterwards, it almost seems ridiculous & hard to take seriously. Especially as there's no closure it opens the door for his return easier (even if lF are dumb Heads lol). But honestly this isn't Film making. If you can't get death closure right dont let him die lmao.

To be honest with you Nonny I am of different boat- I do think his death was planned. As to what I mean by planned? mostly that KK and overall senior production wanted certain criteria to be met when writing the script and writers fulfilled that. JJ especially is guilty to me because JJ was the chief architect alongside KK on deciding the direction of SW.

His only problem is that he is so incompetent and indecisive that he couldn't even figure out how to achieve the ends he want beside writing purely on spite, self interest and fulfilling some random criticism he agree with against TLJ. When he says he didn't have a plan, I don't believe JJ. I think he lacked plan, but had ideas since day one. He is lying to mitigate responsibility. Its much easier for people to forgive mistakes if the other one says they didn't do it on purpose. Everyone knows that. Its a marketing strategy.

So frankly I got the closure I needed. I figured it out some of the whys and got some consolation that DLF, who did this to make some dubious money making franchise plan GOT NOTHING out of this. We might have taken emotional damage but they took that and monetary one. They will never win!

Okay I have to ask, when is someone going to come out and explain what in the holy fuck happened with The New Star Wars Trilogy? Because at this point, keeping this shit secret is only going to hurt Lucasfilm, between J.J saying this happened, rumors saying this happened and Disney Insiders (both real and fictional) saying this happened, someone needs to tell the truth about what the fuck happened here. Not even the goddamn Vic Mignoga shit was this complicated.

Probably after Iger really gets out of there along with KK and her VC who are primary instigator of this mess or at least let everyone make everything messy.

I am betting whoever leaked the scripts of TFA and TROS will be the one who will eventually do a tell all. Clearly someone up there who did this was angry and POWERFUL. No way in hell they got to do this and get away with it if it was a random employee who can hack it. This is my best bet. Driver would say nothing, Isaac would say nothing. J/B probably would lie like a machine gun round depending on what his mood is. I honestly cannot see anyone in cast do a proper tell all or a tell all. So that leaves the CREW.

Ex fandom is having thoughts on the latest attempt of DLF with Skywalker Family based book trying to paint the ending somehow not tragic. It all basically boils down to them insisting that its them attempting a closure of happiness but to me its more cynical than that. To even attempt a closure they have to actually care about people's feelings beyond the money bag they clearly see people as.

Its just them desperately making low grade efforts to see of Rey can still be whitewashed and made saleable again after they could peddle the idea she didn't steal narrative of an unjustly wiped out dynasty like a domestic villain that she is.

Otherwise why they would insist on saying she is not a villain and what a hero she is by adding bullshit context that wasn't there? Its about her  and HER alone, not how Happy Ben or Leia are being dead as skunk.

Rian & JJ competing with the sequels was a huge mistake tho its Not Rians fault. I guess how weird it was that later on the tros Crew shaded rian in Marketing with the actors, made Rian responsible for STAR WARS RACISM due to Finn & made him the scape goat of everything wrong. The Story suffered greatly but even more the image of Star wars. I wonder why rian even wants to Do a trilogy for them, they dont deserve him & He got enough money.

That is true. I think the competing part was between concept of who is main character ( which RJ was not even doing, he did his best for Rey ofc just in a sane way unlike JJ who is crazy) but the rest of it? spite and straw manning to save their own asses.

Not that anyone brought it. JB can lick JJ's ass all he wants by blaming RJ for racism indirectly and imply JJ never did anything to him, to get movie roles in future in his production for such good word. PEOPLE ARE NOT DUMB THO. They remember when the Chinese poster debacle happened and that was WAY BEFORE they even knew who RJ was in mainstream. Any other racism incident can be blamed on on audience alone. RJ didn't tell them to be shitty to JB because they didn't like his movies. Rey being hung up on finding about her family kind of reminds of the Meet the Robinsons film. In that film, Lewis (main character) is an orphan who wanted to know the identity of his biological mother (sounds familiar?). He builds a machine, which he enters for his school's science fair, that would show his earliest memory (when he was baby) of his mother. He will be using the machine for the first time in the science fair but someone sabotages it and the machine doesn't work (which may have sabotaged his future). Alot happens after that...spolier: He is whisked away in a time machine ship by Wilbur and he spends the day in the future and meeting Wilbur's family...then he find out that he is Wilbur's dad and that he has met his future wife and family.

At the last 20 minutes of the film, he was given the opportunity to travel back in time to see his mom but then he backs out of it. Wilbur asked why he backed out from finding out about his mother and Lewis said "Because I already have a family." He accepts to just focus on the present, not dwelling the past, and just "keep moving forward." Add the fact that he already knows what his future looks like (he know who is his adopted parents, future wife and son are) and he wants it.

The most ironic thing is that Meet the Robinsons is a Disney film and the whole motto of the film is to "keep moving forward" but Disney doesn't practice it and its evident in their films and characters, specifically Rey, that they are stuck in the past instead of moving forward.

Honestly things have gone to shit since Iger discovered that he can make tons of shitty money by just remaking every Renaissance era movie into live action and tapping on the potential of not chasing after children but THEIR PARENT'S wallet directly, by knocking their nostalgia feelings to shake the coin out!

This kind of ethos, of exploiting the feelings of the now stressed out parent crowd to make money directly from them by directly appealing to THEIR emotional needs , also percolates into the kind of stories being written. Or shall we say "re-written" now because the only way to tap those emotions is to make sure the stories get a make-over where it validates that feeling of wanting to "stay the child". Where you were once taken care of and the world was not so daunting and you were happier. At least most people on average like to thinks so.

Some of us were no always happier in our childhood.

As long as the company's policies remain that they want to do business the nostalgia-bait way, the stories would continue to be about wanting "to go back" to the past where parents and being a kid in a family is more important. Than wanting to "Go forward" having a family where you can make it. I think the recent success of HTTYD and Avatar:WOTW , RRR etc show that people are over nostalgia, they want movies as they were back in the day. Move on. Literally.
