another major theme in a doll’s house is ownership. torvald owns his wife nora (like a toy or a pet). their relationship is, without real love, a purely contractual agreement that she lives in his world as a dependent of his, not an equal. it’s an “I love you so long as you fit where I want you.” in deciding she wants none of that, in favor of autonomy, she leaves everything behind.

I've been wondering for the last week whether H is going to take a break after this album. And you bringing up Louis' video and this play (in which Nora leaves in the end) made that thought pop into my head again.

But then I wonder if it's a metaphorical leaving... like, there's a lot of rebirth/water in Harry's work. Is this the last of the facade having to go up and down? Is he leaving his label? Is he leaving behind an old way of seeing himself? Is he leaving behind a version of himself that no longer fits? Am I completely being a clown? LOL!

And absolutely this theme of Harry (and Louis) being told they'll only being loved if they fit into a certain box, is one larries have been talking about for ages. It's how his label has constructed his image (and makes me think of when H wore that Don't Ruin My Fantasy t-shirt being papped on the set of DWD of all places). And Harry being owned by his record label is not a new thought, either. They love him because he does what they want, like a puppet (or a doll). But it's not love. It's ownership and manipulation.
