considering the fact that there he made far more enemies in the south than originally expected ? there was hope that perhaps that he could get away with this . that he could return home with out a problem , but that didn’t appear to be possible . not right now and no doubt not any longer .
cassandra had put her foot down in not allowing him to return to tevinter after corypheus was defeated . she ensured that he wouldn’t leave , that he would be stuck at skyhold and in the south forever . that he would never be allowed to return home . the very thought sickened him . he needed to return . he would do anything to return , but there also was tae to worry about .
dalish were not allowed in tevinter . more likely than not they would be a high priced slave . something that he wouldn’t have tae ever be . the rules were the ‘correct’ way there in his mind , but even so ? the south gave far more freedoms . you could be with the person you cared for . the person that you’d destroy the world for . even if they would never understand why .
nick bites down on his lower lip for a moment , a deep breath was sucked in , and then let out slowly . usually , the view from his quarters calmed him --- especially when tae was there with him . the one good thing to come out of his time in the south .... even if he knew he’d eventually lose him due to longing to go back home .
it had been two months since corypheus’ defeat and there was already several requests to return to tevinter . some by nick himself and others by a few in the magisterium . they wanted information on what had transpired and more specifically ? what he knew .
to say it was a relations nightmare was one thing , but another because even if he was to go to tevinter ? even for a few weeks or however long enough it was to sort this out ? nick wouldn’t want to leave . he’d most likely try to get a spot on the magisterium and being the herald ? that could make things much better for him .
it was his plan to leave in the next week . he thought his letters had been able to escape the grasp of leliana , but apparently the last one had not . considering what it had said ? about the information he had given over to secure proper passage to tevinter ? it was no doubt going to cause a public relations nightmare .
he hadn’t even had the chance to tell tae about his trip yet . he was going to tonight , to reveal everything to him , and that he’d be back before he knew it . that it was truly nothing to worry about . he just hadn’t gotten that far as of yet .
“ you know i couldn’t stay here forever , tae . ”
nick could , if he tried to . if he put tae’s wants in-front of his own , but would he ? no . of course not . it wouldn’t do any good anyways . his plans to tell him were blasted through the roof . he knew everything now or close to it and he couldn’t take it all back .
“ there was a time limit to everything . figured i could answer their questions and be back with-in a few weeks . settle things up there and get back to skyhold before you knew it . ”
it wasn’t the entire picture though , nick would stay for longer than that , and no doubt send the change of plans by letter . that was something already suspected by the advisors the moment they read the letter in question .
if nick trevelyan left for tevinter ... it would be the last anyone saw of him for a long while .
“ now that it’s known , ” he says , rubbing at his throat for a moment , “ things are only going to get more complicated . i mean , more than usual . the imperium expects me to be there in a few days and if I don’t arrive ... I think you know what will happen . ”
