Me talking about ideas for future games after pathfinder: Yeah so I think a scifi thing would be fun. Instead of Starfinder, I was thinking something like Battletech or Lancer.

All three of my players without hesitation: Battletech would be dope, would love to be space mercs.

Me, fucking flabbergasted, confused, looking for hidden cameras: Wait really?! I mean...I'll start putting a pitch together.

How do I politely tell someone I'm on positive terms with to "fuck off I'm not inviting you to my dnd group just because you're one of my players' best friends because I know for a fact that you will just ignore the other player at the table for the entirety of every session and I think that's bullshit. bitch." ?

asking because I’m writing up the lore doc for my homebrew setting and it is 24 pages of 11pt single-spaced Times New Roman and counting (literally I haven’t even gotten to the descriptions of the playable ancestries within my setting yet) and I would like to get a sense for how likely I am to scare off players with this :(

if I was the only dm in this group this one player we have would've been kicked AGES ago

just constantly late to session no matter what time or day we're having it and it is infuriating

and its always "oh her [friend/mother/whoever] wanted her to run an errand with them she'll be on in 15/30/an hour" and apparently she's incapable of saying "i have a previous engagement"

As a DM, I sympathise a lot with DM’s during shopping episodes/ sessions. Either the players are gonna throw all their money at something insane or they are going to want something so mundane...

Player: I want to buy a plate

DM: Sure you can find a plate easily. There are a couple of sho-

Player: How much does it cost?

DM: ...

Cue two minutes of silence while you desperately look through the players handbook before giving up and hoping the number you just threw out makes sense.

My NPCs won’t tell me anything useful about themselves BUT I know who they think is hot

just some newbie DM venting...

well I’m frustrated.

I’m mad at someone that i play with in another group who has thrown a wrench into my game.... on the very first session.

I’m mad because he wasn’t around for all the planning, the session 0, the scheduling debate etc, we only talked about him quest starring once but he showed to the first session claiming to just sit in but proceeded to insert himself into the game even though i said i wan’t ready for his character, he didn’t come with any equipment or anything either just showed. I just wanted him to sit in a watch and maybe help me teach the new players. 

But no he’s part of the group and inserted himself IN ONE SESSION so that my other players (who doesn’t pay attention) refers to his schedule and why we can’t play today or tomorrow. 

I have to talk to him, but there’s no way to do it gently. I have to be firm but its just gonna make everyone fear me that they’ve upset me.

I don’t know how to keep my frustration out of it.

I wanna tell them I’m not worried baout his schedule because he’s not part of the group.

How do i reword that to make it better.

 I’m mad I just AM like goddamnit.

I’m trying not to be but i am upset. FUCK
