This a good time to really drive home too DMR - Amazon is already making it nearly impossible for books to be digitally accessed via Libby by buying the DMR to try to drive you to purchase kindle books. There are edits being made to movies you love when you buy them digitally and they can take them away at any point without compensation - it's in the Ts&Cs you clicked right on thru because we are in an age of instant gratification.
Buy the DVDs. Buy the books. Buy the CD, or burn it onto a CD, or record it playing even if that's lesser quality than you would like.
Stop using credit cards and buy cash where you can too since Visa and Mastercard think they can get away with telling us what we as legal adults that earn our own money can and cannot buy or access.
Don't trust your rights to actually be respected.
Jackie that I’m pretty pleased with
Just getting round to activating features on my hot spot like DMR2YSF. I had a local friend who kept saying he was using the STNY talk group but it wasn’t the same one that Brandmeister listed… figured out it was a cross over room to C4FM (YSF) function. So, got that turned on in the hot spot and now I have two Southern Tier options.
We both got into DMR not knowing it fit the same reason. Both dads are hams and in his case his father goes south when winter hits. In my case I went north and neither my dad or I had HF set up at the time.
Is it VoIP with more steps, yeah but it does work really well and gives you world band radio even for technician class operators or folks with restricted space. I have an old friend, now Silent Key who would have loved this. His senior living center didn’t allow any antennas past an HT. He was active with the local 2m scene and a regular on our weather nets but missed 20m each to Europe.
