Challenge the game: 5 ways to build links and improve your SEO in 2016
Links are still considered to be the largest ranking factor in SEO which makes them a major part of the process. Getting good quality links is considered to be next to impossible, but we have listed five techniques which can help you get the links you need:
1. Ask for backlinks:
Ask your clients, friends and colleagues who have websites for backlinks to your website of blog. It’s a good place to start for a beginner and is better if the backlink is incorporated in the content instead of in the footer or a sidebar. The backlink which leads to your site should be from a site which is relevant to your specific niche. If the link is present on a site which is not related to the content you upload, then it would set a bad impression and may even be harmful.
2. Build relationship:
To obtain good backlinks, you need to establish good relationships with the owners of many sites and blogs. Always make sure that the people who you contact and interact with are working in the fields related to your content. Take part in discussions and offer your comments on the posts being uploaded. Make sure your views have some contextual value. Doing this will not only help in acquiring quality backlinks but you will also form connections within the community of your content and have the latest news in the industry.
3. Give testimonials:
Link building through testimonials benefits everyone involved. Many businesses offer chances to their customers to provide feedback on their products. Writing testimonials helps to build customer trust and form a relationship with the business. It is also an opportunity to obtain a good backlink and traffic from a website which has a higher approval rate than the usual email asking for a link.
4. Good quality guest posts:
Many blogs and websites accept guest posts, but when writing one, make sure that the blog or website where you are submitting is related to your subject. Don’t overemphasize your own blog or website and keep your focus on quality of the post as a badly written post can give you a bad reputation.
5. Infographics:
The trend is steadily shifting away from text heavy posts to more visual based content, images, videos and especially infographics. Infographics have the added advantage of making use of numbers to provide bite sized chunks of information at a glance with a visual aid for correlation. They grab people’s attention and can very easily go viral.
Building links on SEO is a difficult task but the rewards make it all worthwhile. Having your blog or website become popular would open up many other avenues to further your reach.

M – The Personal Assistant for your Facebook Messenger
Most of us are occupied in our lives doing something or the other. We usually don’t have time for the small but important things in life. What if we had a helper who could run small errands and give great advice at the same time at no extra cost?
Meet your new friend ‘M’
Facebook is adding a personal assistant called ‘M’ to your Messenger App. It’s a personal digital assistant that will complete tasks and find information on your behalf. It is powered by an artificial intelligence that’s trained and supervised by people.

This personal assistant of yours will perform multiple tasks for you right from purchasing items, getting gifts delivered to close friends, reserving tables at restaurants, travel arrangements, appointments to answering various questions and giving advice. Introducing a new personal assistant in Facebook Messenger is a smart thing because people are accustomed to typing out messages rather than speaking out commands.
After this introduction, Facebook will put itself in line with competitors like Apple’s Siri, Google’s Google Now and Mircrosoft’s Cortana. The feeding in of ‘M’ will be costly for Facebook considering they may have to hire many people to assist the Personal Assistant.
Busy people can now find time for the more essential things in their lives and let the Facebook Messenger Personal Assistant do all the small work.

Google Integrates Twitter into its Desktop search results
Google, the worlds biggest search engine integrates Twitter into its Desktop search results. Earlier we had to log onto twitter, click on interesting hash tags, search for tweets and trending topics to know what was happening around the globe.
Now things have changed. The new Google desktop and Twitter integration make it possible to search for hashtags, trending topics, and Twitter accounts with a regular search on the Google Desktop. You have to simply type in a topic on the Google search engine itself with or without a hash tag and you’ll be shown a list of trending tweets about that topic on real time basis.

It’s a common belief that people feel more at home using the Google search engine. The idea behind this integration is to save the effort of logging on to Twitter, searching for interesting hash tags and viewing a Tweet. At the same time after you type a topic on Google, Google does not do anything more than provide a sequential list of posts and tweets.
In the month of February this year, Twitter’s Ex-CEO Dick Costolo announced that Twitter would be integrating with Google in the near future. So this did not come as a surprise to Twitter users. This feature has been available on Google’s mobile website and apps since May this year, but this is the first time the Twitter-Google integration has arrived on the desktop. This new tie-up is available across the globe in English.
The giant social media platforms of today believe the root to growth lies in the ability to integrate and make more friendly ties.

How Does Facebook Decide What’s Trending?
Quite a few people out there use Facebook as a source for the news and the latest happenings. Users feel that Facebook displays those news articles that are essential and trending the most that is seen on the right hand side of the home page under the header trending. This saves their time and they get a glimpse of all that is important. If they feel a particular news headline is interesting, they can click on it to read more about it.
So how does Facebook decide what news to display on the right hand side of their home page? How does it decide what’s trending?
Facebook uses the same concept it uses while displaying the news feed on the home page. The concept of algorithms. It takes into account the pages you like, who you follow, your geographical location etc. More importantly, it takes into consideration the topics that are mentioned very frequently and the topics that receive a considerable increase in mentions. Both of these go hand in hand.
For example, Katrina Kaif is talked about very often on Facebook and so the volume of mentions around her will always be high. This does not come under the roof of a dramatic increase in mentions. Facebook will look for a dramatic increase in mentions, which is around the gossip about Katrina or any other celebrity. The most trending news does not necessarily have to be the most mentioned or talked about. They must be tied to some kind of relevant event and must have a spike in mentions.
Additionally, if the stock
MARKET crashes in India and the famous footballer Ronaldo meets with an accident, the former would get more importance to a Facebook user in India. Once a topic is identified as trending, a human controller approves it and is asked to write a short description about the same. They get to pick the headline, but aren’t authorized to pick the advertisements for that news topic.
Not all the trending stories on Facebook are happening at that time. It has just been spoken about at that time and that’s the reason it is under the title of trending and not breaking news.
So now you know how Facebook decides what to choose to display under their trending section on the home page.
