4 and 23 for the DN asks! 😁
4. who’s your favorite underrated or obscure character?
Watari. He mostly acts as a butler or caretaker, but he also operates a rifle and his shots are as good as sniper's. Why? Has he been through war? Or was he a hitman? The world might never know. Also, how does he have so much money to run an orphanage? How did he come up with an idea of a program that creates geniuses? + I just find the idea of turning a stereotypical noble old Englishman into something as dangerous and vicious as Watari to be very entertaining.
I would also like to know more about Mikami, as Ohba intended for him to be Light's equal so it would be really interesting to watch Mikami act more on screen + I would want to see Sayu more, bc she grew up with Light as a role figure and Soichiro as a paternal figure, and they both are so complicated and complex characters, they had to have influenced her somehow.
23. what was your favorite moment and why?
Ohhhh i don't even know where to start, because both anime and manga have very moving scenes like Light's Kira speech, Light's and L's deaths etc, but that goes without saying, so I'm gonna pick sth less obvious haha
First of all, I like how differently anime and manga treat the scene where Light is coming to terms that he's a killer. In manga Light's in shock and he's hiding under his blanket and scared and thinks a lot and oh oh it's so interesting. While in anime it takes Light 14 seconds to come to terms with the fact that he's killed two people, but it also happens in some dark corner, under the rain and so the atmosphere is still there. I just find it really interesting how these two scenes create different images of Light.
But my fav is prob the opening scene in the anime with this parallels between Ryuk and Light, who are both like "this world is rotten", and this emptiness in Light's eyes..... Ahhh, the directing is spectacular
