march vs august. huh.
ah anime L does not smile at light's response to the first friend scene. okay. awesome.
THE ANIME CUT THE PEOPLE IN THE MANGA WHO NOTICED LIGHT IS TWO-TIMING NOOOOOOO NOOOOOOOOOOOO
🔥 topic: kiyomisa :3c
YESSSSSSS YAYYYYYYYYYY YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEE
my somehow unpopular kiyomisa opinion is that i wish there was more fanwork of them along the lines of them killing and eating each other. every time i poke around 2010s dn discussions people are conceiving of them as ??? nice ??? which is not a bad thing!!! i really enjoyed a lot of it!!! keep making fluffy kiyomisa i love seeing the blorbos happy!!! but the fact that this was overwhelmingly the majority perception BAFFLES ME thankfully i don’t think this is the case anymore.
anyway that’s low hanging fruit let me think of some higher hanging fruit. uhh. i think it’s really cute that kiyomi wants to kill misa so so bad that it’s the one and only thing she speaks up to light about. like that’s so cute. apparently the anime moves this scene before the dinner scene(? correct me if i’m wrong) which is interesting because then it makes sense why kiyomi is more confident during the dinner scene, because she’s been assured that misa isn’t a threat, compared to the manga where she loses that interaction by a kilometer and then goes to light like Please let me kill her Yagami-kun I need to kill her right now. but i like that in both versions misa is the only crack in her facade, right, both in the sense that she’s the looming threat to the domestic tableau she’s enacting with light and in the sense that manga misa gets kiyomi genuinely and severely thrown off and anime misa gets kiyomi to laugh like a maniac
i'll never ever forgive the anime for cutting "i was supposed to die that day anyway" thank god for borrowed time from the musical bringing misa's dead girl walking swag back into the zeitgeist.
anyway that got me to watch the dinner scene in the anime and maybe i am just a pedant but why does it read vastly differently what is happening
rem: misa refused my offer to help her escape. she must have thought the revelation of her having magic powers would get you in trouble. and when she was at her wits' end, she asked me to kill her. ………it was all because she wanted you to love her.
anime vs manga light:
have we ever seen manga misa truly alone? like no one around watching her, no one to pretend for, etc?
we got a small glimpse of that in the anime and my whole view of her as a character hinges on the way she acted so different in that one scene
ran through the whole manga that i remember in my head and no i don't think so there's always rem (first arc) / the surveillance cameras (yotsuba) / ryuk (arc2) / mogi (arc2 post amnesia) hahaaaaaaa that's fucked! if anyone remembers otherwise let me know
and yes that scene in the anime is BRILLIANT i love it deeply. staring into the darkness blankly while a caged bird screams.
