In honour of the DnD selfie doing the rounds on twitter, I thought I’d actually show my face for once.

I play an Aasimar Cleric called Aja and we are playing the Curse of Strahd campaign at the moment. We’ve recently levelled up (now level 4) after killing the coven of Hags in the Windmill outside of Villaki.

In the side campaign we do, I play an Elven ranger/Druid called Estrella as well as her beast companion, Astrid. Estrella was the first character I ever played as and when our entire group is able to play, she is the character I choose to play.

I discovered Critical Role through playing, I hadn’t watched a single episode and during one session, I said I had a natural 20. My DM then asked if I had been watching Critical role which led me down the rabbit hole and actually taught me how to play.

Marisha Ray is the reason I had faith in myself to design and run my own Honey Heist, something that I never would have dreamed of doing; but seeing her GM all 3 ‘one shots’ completely inspired me.

I’m up to date with Campaign 2 and have reached the Briarwood Arc in Campaign 1 so I know I still have so far to go.

DnD has changed my life and bought my group of friends so much closer together.

Here she is pretty in pink, my finished drawing for Celeste Rolshoon, a Tielfing Paladin for my first Dungeons and Dragons game. Tuscan Red Prismacolor Col-erase pencil on Matte Dura-lar. Celeste was often hired to escort travellers safely through the mountains. One day she was escorting some young children and they were attacked. Never before had she faced such a brutal enemy. She fought as hard as she could, but was overwhelmed and left for dead. She was discovered alone on the mountain covered in dry blood but no other bodies were found. Even the bodies of her enemies were no longer there. As she recovered she slowly remembered aspects of the fight, like how none of the children were attacked. She believes the children were taken and has since discovered similar occurrences. Though she has lost the trail and it has been many years since she has never forgiven herself or forgotten those children. She is determined to find out what happened. For now however she is in need of some gold and an adventure with some strangers sounds like an answer. She is known for adopting strays, helping young people and has many young allies. I don't care much for this #dndselfie meme that's going around right now, because it seems to exist to say "Look! Tabletop isn't (just) for unattractive weirdos and awkward dorks anymore! It's got normal people now so it's okay!", which feels kind of shitty if you ARE unattractive, awkward, weird, or just otherwise fit the stereotype. It feels like the community for your own beloved hobby is trying to distance itself from you, which it frankly feels like a lot these days. Tabletop has traditionally been a haven for the misfits and outsiders, who suddenly aren't welcome in their own spaces, own hobbies.
