DNH Analysis Update!!!
the good news is that I've been working hard on the next part, and I'm really excited about it! I think there's a lot of interesting stuff in episodes two and three and I'm gonna get to ramble about some weird and fun stuff so GET EXCITED!! the bad news is, I'm already almost at the page count for the first video and I'm not even done with the episode 2 specific stuff. this video is probably going to end up being much longer than the first, which means it's gonna take a while for me to finish. I anticipate it coming out sometime in May if I can be honest. super sorry about that. BUT OTHER GOOD NEWS! to buy some time for myself I'm gonna release a shorter video focussing just on the Do No Harm intro, like the song, so that should be out sometime next month.
but yeah i'm super busy, not only with classwork, but also with a few personal projects so work has been slow. but i promise, i'm still super excited about this and i won't give up on it! i love DNH and making video essays too much to stop.
in other news, i'd like to make some more videos in between or after this series and i'm brainstorming ideas but if yall have any requests, asks are open... i've already been stewing on hl2vrai and my thoughts. BUT IT WAS REALLY GOOD AND I DON'T HAVE ANYONE TO TALK TO ABOUT IT UGH!!!
anyway, grigori sweep. have a good day everynyan
DNH ANALYSIS UPDATE: (sad)
i’m going through a really rough time rn, i’ve got a lot of work and im going through some pretty bad personal stuff so i don’t think i’ll have the second part of the analysis done for a while.
so sorry to everyone who’s already been patiently waiting, i was hoping to get this done by the end of April at the latest but it’s not looking like that’s possible rn. I haven’t been able to work on this and i don’t know when i’ll be able to again.
kinda wish i didn’t break up the analysis and just wrote the whole thing all together back in jan/feb and just waited to release it, but i was really excited about it, and i still am excited to show you guys everything but it’s a lot rn (sorry)
so please continue to be patient! wait for an update or notification on the channel!
and thanks for sticking around in the meantime
i can’t give another estimate rn but as soon as i’m feeling better ill get back to yall <3
Anyway reposting my youtube comment here bc I messed up formatting when typing it:
So the Keyblade's amorphous and unclear nature ties back into boundaries; Not in the sense of protection, but in the sense of a threshold. You mention early in the video that Sora and his good friend Ricky enjoy violence as play, but in playing violent games there is a risk of those behaviors becoming ingrained. The Keyblade is simultaneously a Toy and a Weapon in the same way Sora's violence is simultaneously Playful and Harmful. It's not one single thing, and is instead teetering precariously on the line between them.
I think the Keyblade could represent that threshold between other concepts, too.
this is a beautiful take i really like it. the double meaning with it being both a toy and a weapon plays really well with a lot of the double meanings for other thematic motifs in the series too.
I LOVE GETTING THESE ASKS BY THE WAY THEY MAKE ME SO HAPPY
