Lil rant abt merch
Ok so when merch was originally revealed I was super excited and I loved the designs and I was hoping to get the jacket and something else clothing wise if I could afford it. But since then I've heard multiple things about the quality bring bad and I'm really disappointed. Like everything is expensive, which would make more sense if it was actually good. I saw people saying the jacket is made of a stiff nylon, which is literally a fabric made of plastic and personally I'm not going to pay that much for it, and now people saying the prints coming off the shirts after 1 wash?? Like this sucks. And this isn't their first time making merch either

Since y'all insist on comparing Dan and Phil's merch shop, and their subsequent solo ventures, I'm going to take a minute to explain the business and marketing of Dan and Phil's solo businesses.
As a preface to this - I have my masters degree in marketing and brand management, and I did my thesis on YouTube branding and marketing. I have spent years studying the dnp brand and dissecting it for this purpose. If it's one brand I know - it's Dan and Phil's.
First off, people who think Phil's merch is performing better because it's sold out quicker need to understand supply chain management.
Dan runs his business on longevity model. Highly transferable merchandise that appeals to a larger, more casual audience. He approaches his brand by buying large bulk, which is cheaper, and will have a higher return on investment in the long run. His brand focuses on a steady base he can slowly build on and continue to grow and make money on over time.
Phil is the opposite - he runs his business on a short term model. He buys small stock, sells it at a higher price, and gets a smaller return but quicker. This is especially effective for him because he markets himself for a very small, specific audience. By buying smaller stock and having it 'sell out' his brand appears to be in high demand, therefore others perceive it as being popular and intriguing - driving up sales.
Neither of these models are wrong. They both have pros and cons, and based on their individual brands on YouTube, the way they run their merch shops makes sense for their brands. However, this also means it is virtually impossible to compare their brands. Their business models, personalities, and ultimate goals in the merch venture are so wildly different, that trying to compare the two doesn't work.
At this point, feeling 'bad' for dan isn't necessary or claiming his merch flopped just simply isn't true. Stop being a dick to Dan by comparing their merch shops, because comparing them makes no sense from the business perspective.
When shipping is expensive as hell and your broke ass can't afford any new merch let alone Phil solo mercy and you have to wait till Christmas:
