Dornier Do 19, a long-range strategic bomber designed and built in 1935-36 in competition with the Junkers Ju 89. A four-engine, mid-wing cantilever monoplane of primarily metal construction, the Do 19 showed great promise but was cancelled following the death of Generalleutnant Walther Wever.

Caption #1: Potentially a useful long-range bomber, the Do 19 took to the air only in prototype form, and the project was cancelled after the death of General Wever.

Caption #2: Wever's successor, Albert Kesselring, concluded that the Luftwaffe should be more focused on fighter and tactical bomber development, cancelling the Ural bomber project.
