I think if you have a mental illness and become a therapist, or chronic illness and become a doctor, those "experience" requirements should count- you have lived with this illness, that is your experience. You don't need that internship. You got the job.
Society would benefit greatly if the odds weren't stacked against people with illnesses or disabilities and we could be our own doctors.
