The Story Behind Doctor's Day
Doctor’s profession is noble. Clad in white apron, he is an angel, clad with green or blue, he is next to god. There is a saying that doctors are very near or same as god in this world. Doctor’s day is a dedication in honor of those people who are committed to save human lives. It iseasy to kill a person but it is difficult to save a human being.
On march 30,1933,the first doctors day was observed in Winder,Georgia. Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, decided to set aside a day to honour physicians. This first observance included the mailing of greeting cards and placing flowers on graves of deceased doctors. The red carnation is commonly used as the symbolic flower for national doctors’ day. On march 30,1958, a resolution commemorating doctor's day was adopted by the United States house of representatives.
