📚March Book Review📚
4/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“I’m powerless in the face of that smile – pure happiness, innocent joy.”
Happy Doctor’s Day! I decided to dedicate this review to the good doctors who help those in need. This hospital romance is more than a cozy read and if you’re a fan of The Pitt, I recommend this enemies to lovers for all of you. Grace Rose has a rough start at her OBGYN residency when a rumor goes around that she slept her way into the program. It’s completely false and she sets out to prove it but the damage is done and she is treated like a leper by attendings that increases her social anxiety. In the fallout she lashes out at fellow resident, Julian Santini, who misjudges her and feels regret about it when set straight. The animosity between them grows through the grueling shifts and sleepless nights and before long a different kind of tension exposes vulnerabilities in each other that makes them closer than anticipated. As far as enemies to lover’s trope goes, I commend the author for executing it with two exhausted doctors. The challenges of working in a hospital are well captured as Grace struggles with the toxic, male driven environment that is set against her before her first day. I was entertained by the rivalry and banter between Grace and Julian while they tackle workplace gossip, misogyny and systemic bias. This is one of the best workplace romance debuts I’ve read and if you’re a fan of romance and medical dramas this is the book for you.
