Happy Birthday ♎️ to Dave Vanian, mr. “Transylvanian” who has bedazzled us with his elegant and ghoulish vampire looks on and off stage and remains a seminal punk/goth icon eternally 🧛🏻♂️🖤🦇 @eternally_damned His steadfast dedication to the image was witnessed in an extravagant live show with The Damned last October 28th at The London Palladium titled “Night Of A Thousand Vampires” making a grand entrance which included a transition to a shaved head “Nosferatu” garb and regalia and gave the audience a pleasant rendition of Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” along with all the hits. It’s almost inevitable that his obsession with vampires and Vampira (Maila Nurmi) would be written into the song “Plan 9 Channel 7” about her supposed relationship/affair with James Dean and that’s entirely another tale. The song title was taken from the 1959 sci-fi horror cult classic Plan 9 From Outer Space and Channel 7 being the home of The Vampira Show from April 1954 to April 1955. From the early days of The Damned he has resembled many ghastly vampires such as the likes of Udo Kier in Blood for Dracula (1974) to a more elegant with frills Phantasmagoria (1985) era vampire. 🧛🏻♂️🩸🦇 🏴☠️ 🏴☠️ 🏴☠️ #DaveVanian #DavidLett #TheDamned 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔇𝔞𝔪𝔫𝔢𝔡 #DoctorsOfMadness #NazNomadAndTheNightmares #ThePhantomChords #DaveVanianAndThePhantomChords #Vampira #Plan9Channel7 #Punk #Goth #TradGoth #Gothabilly #Psychobilly https://www.instagram.com/p/CGQicvlB9pS/?igshid=8i5hh10a0zxw
