When I started this campaign many sent messages saying that in Western countries doctor's treat everyone equally and Indian doctor's do not consider poor patients. To begin with every Indian doctor even in private practice provides a lot of services to many poor patients but they do not make a propaganda of it. Secondly the public health system in every Western country is maintained and operated by the government. Even the govt system is state of the art and all treatment facilities are provided to every patient.
In India the relatives of poor patients are attacking trainee doctors in very badly maintained and ill-equipped govt hospitals and primary health centers. Is it the doctors’ fault if adequate treatment cannot be rendered? Why are we so afraid to ask for anything to the government? We feel justified to verbally and physically attack doctor's because they do not retaliate. That is all we can do but not fight with the govt for what is our right after paying such high taxes on everything.

While we intellectualise sitting in the comfort of our homes, what we fail to see is the efforts each student takes to even enter a medical college. The endless hours of hard work after that, the repeated entrance exams to get a PG seat, working in the worst environment in under-equipped and understaffed Primary health centres,the burden of handling each patient attentively while there has been no time to eat or sleep.
And then the people carrying their frustrations beat up these poor students and junior doctors who are only trying to give the best services in the compromised environment. The real tragedy is that those of us who demand five star services from our doctors. support the mentality of the mob justifying the torture and inhuman treatment of these doctors.Can we at least realise that we and our relatives are going to need doctors today and always and that doctors are not unlimited to be killed by others and still be available for us with best services whenever we demand.
Doctors need safe environment work in and that is the government's job to provide the safety and provide better treatment facilities for the doctor to work in. LET US APPEAL TO THE GOVERNMENT TO PROTECT THE DOCTORS AND PROVIDE THE FACILITIES FOR OUR OWN WELLBEING.

While we raise questions about doctors earning money what we do not realise is that just getting into medical college takes huge efforts. From there it is a continuous uphill task to get through the vast curriculum, then again struggling to get a PG seat through even tougher entrance exams, getting a job as a junior doctor (Being paid very less), Many many sleepless nights and over worked hours, then huge loans to set up a hospital and to maintain them.
After all this when they work hard, they earn like everyone else, for their hard work and expertise. When we believe that just because they are doctors they should not have any needs, desires or feelings other than serving the patients, we are being insensitive to the efforts they have put in to reach to a position where they can offer good treatment. Isn't it time that we recognise this and support their struggle just to expect a right to live without fear?

Today many students are unwilling to opt for Medical Profession because of the conditions of working getting difficult day by day. Those who can afford wish to move abroad for a “Better Life". If we do not understand the value of Doctors and fail to make them feel valued and protected, can we imagine the status of our healthcare system? We cannot sit quiet and let this be someone else's responsibility. Let us write to the Government and the Media and extend our support to the doctors.
