Four-Legged Protector

Who: Chris Evans & Dodger What: Chris explaining how protective Dodger has become since [Y/N] got pregnant. A/N: Can I just say that this particular imagine has been the most annoying thing ever. I have tried to post this several times after revising and it’s failed. If you’re reading this then that means it finally fucking worked.

“Dodger definitely knew before we did.” Chris nodded as a picture of Dodger got blown up for the crowd to see. “He started acting a bit strange, a little more clingy than usual. Now, he isn’t too clingy, not too over the top but, eh, well, you know he’s there.” Chris laughed as a video clip of Dodger trying to use his niece as a seat. “So, I was gone for a few days in LA. Had some contracts to go over and what not. And, Dodger, he, uh, well, he was all about [Y/N]. Which isn’t too out of the ordinary. He has adapted to the change over the last few years and has found out that [Y/N] is just as good as I am when it comes to being his best bud. But, uh, anyway, he just wouldn’t allow her to be in a different room. And you know, usually he’d just go off and do his own thing. Chew on a toy or go nap somewhere, you know, normal dog stuff. But not those few days. Nope.” Chris quirked a brow and smirked as he pressed his lips together, “Well there was an incident at my sisters. [Y/N] decided to spend the few days I was gone with Carly and the kids. Not uncommon. [Y/N] visits my family quite often when I’m gone from home, we all live so close together. But yeah so they put up the baby gate to keep the kids out of the kitchen while they cooked dinner and Dodger...Dodger just tore it down. I mean, he ripped the gate right out the wall. I’m talking those metal ones. The ones you screw into the wall. Know the ones I’m talking about?” Chris nodded as the crowed nodded, “Yup, took it straight out. He was acting so bizarre. And all he wanted was to just lay at [Y/N]’s feet. He just wanted to be right by her. He was fine once he got to where he wanted to be.

So [Y/N] took him to the vet the next day to see if anything was wrong and they sent him home with a clean bill of health. It was crazy. So we kind of thought, huh, well maybe he’s just missing me? We weren’t really sure, you know? This is really the first time I had been gone and he’d be with just [Y/N]. Usually, if I was going to be gone shooting a movie or something I’d take him with me because [Y/N] would have obligations too. Very rarely would Shanna and Carly have to watch him. Every now and then. But uh, yeah, things didn’t change when I got home and I really got to witness the anxiety Dodger had if he wasn’t near [Y/N]. It was kind of concerning but the vet said there was nothing wrong with him.”

“When did you find out the reason for his protectiveness?”

Chris laughs, “Well, uh, ha, it definitely took us a lot longer than we like to admit. The day we figured it out just so happened to be the day that [Y/N] couldn’t keep anything down. She was so sick. Everything made her nauseous. Things kind of clicked when she described her symptoms being like morning sickness. We both kind of stared at each other, laughed, and then went out and got a pregnancy test. It came out positive and then things with Dodger just kind of made sense after that. He’s been very protective since day one.”

A clip of a Dodger resting his head on [Y/N] came up for everyone to see. In the clip, you can see Chris’s hand reaching over to rub her swollen belly. Dodger’s lip curl slightly and a deep whine comes from his throat as he inches forward to cover the rest of her belly from Chris’s hand. Chris laughs in the clip and says, “Come on Bubba, it’s just me.” Dodger lifts his head, his lips curling forward again. [Y/N] is heard chuckling as her hand pats his head and she says, “It’s okay, Dodger.” It’s after the confirmation, that Chris is able to place his hand on her stomach without Dodger getting defensive.

The crowd cheers and Chris nods, smiling. “I’m not worried one bit when we bring the baby home. He’s already taken that role of protector. Forget me. I’m not going to be able to do shit with him around.”
