Holy Shit!

Hold on to your pearls and rub your crystals! There’s a new witch in town… And she’s a spooky one.
Hello all, welcome to my blog. My name is is Cam Pederson and I am the creator/performer Luna Muse. I’m a theatre major in college who is learning my craft of performing (pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre to be exact.)
When I was little, I was always so intrigued by strong, powerful women. Whether it was Katy Perry or the Sanderson sisters from “Hocus Pocus”- I was so inspired. Most of my schooling 6-12th grade I would catch myself drawing these mysterious set of eyes, they loomed at me as I distracted myself from taking notes on what I found to be incredibly boring. These doodles soon transformed into an entire character. She was tall, boney, mysterious, and most of all witchy. Not an evil vibe to her, but definitely not a good one either.
I watched the infamous “RuPauls Drag Race” all through middle school and high school, and still am an avid fan now that I am in college, but I couldn’t help but notice that I really wasn’t seeing quite what I was trying to identify on the pages of my sketch pad. Some queens came close to helping me realize who this lady was. Queens such as Max, Sharon Needles, Raja, Milk, Pearl, and Sasha Velour sparked different areas of interest when it came to building this drag character. But the truth is, she is completely different (while being a scrapbook, if you will, of all of these wonderful drag styles.)
Of course, just like any other drag queen, Things stated in the bathroom and bedroom. I would put my stage makeup and artist impulses to work while I experimented painting this woman on my face. It was a weird feeling seeing yourself disappear int the mirror for a few hours. Fall of my sophomore year of schooling came around and the theatre department needs people to march in our local pride parade. I think I can speak for many when I say, I shocked all of my friends and many of the spectators with my ruby red pumps and fiery, flowy neckpiece strutting multiple blocks. I was terrified to see what people would do, but was also ready to stir up a commotion. Seeing people react so positively only sparked my interest further.
Some time this year I received an email calling for all student drag performers across my campus to audition for the semester drag show. This was just the push that I needed. I sat on the email for a couple of weeks and then finally responded. The name came flowing out of my fingers as I coordinated an audition time. Luna Muse. In honor of my deep admiration for the moon, it mused me. But that story is for another blog post I suppose.
It finally came time for the show and I had prepared two different sides of my character. Hopefully throwing it on stage infant of an audience would help me gauge what kind of performer this Luna is. These numbers were a leather-claid, rocker chick with an inner demon, “Judas” by Lady GaGa. The second was a light poppy number with a serious statement about what the hell us humans are doing to ourselves on earth, “Chained To The Rhythm” by Katy Perry. Both were received well and the charter only grows with each performance of new material.
Since then Luna has graced the stage at clubs like The Gay 90’s and LUSH in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Even winning a competition which earns her a spot during the RuPauls Drag Race season 9 finale viewing party this summer! (Stay Tuned for more info!) Luna has a lot of polishing to do, but even more edging up as well. I think she’s going to be groundbreaking. and the good part of this journey is, at the end of the day I can hang her up on the coat rack and continue living my life as Cam- whom I am very happy to be. Then when things get spicy or need a little wicked magic onstage, Luna creeps back from out of the coffin.
So if you dare, meet Luna Muse. She’s a witchy lady with a sense of humor sweet as cotton candy. If you have any urge to get captivated by her live, follow her at

XXX Luna.
