There was a debate whether or not it was a mistake to declare Pluto a not-planet which was mostly made up of people who are definitely not scientists and TIME wrote that article and I guess people didn't read it and just took the headline and started shouting NASA had declared Pluto a planet (that's not even in their jurisdiction to do anyway) when that isn't even close to what happened

I guess facts should just be determined by public opinion now who need science
