i feel you people act like goro is evil when the point was he...wasnt his dad was the big bad in the game in the first place yet no one brings him up or they joke about him "having daddy issues" when he was neglected and traumatized because of him. goro is morally gray as hell (hence his persona is "robin hood" he did bad things to stop someone actually evil) and hes such an interesting and good character to me and one of my favs since the games original release
I’m going to put the rest of your ask and my answer under Read More.
i also dont get why the fandom compares him to light yagami and adachi restlessly as if they cant understand or analyze his character well at all. theres a huge difference between a traumatized kid being used as a puppet and a grown ass man who killed people, mainly women who wouldnt follow his desires, of out his own boredom in life and light hardly makes sense besides its a joke about goros hair
fandom acts like goro is a real person and hurt them personally or smth its really odd esp since the thieves reached out to him during their fight because they knew his villain act was dishonest and they were going against the same guy. everyone wanted him to find redemption but in the end goro killed himself instead of killing his only friends in life he was a kid who fucked up not adachi 2.0
but yea sorry for the long messages its just??? fandoms cant understand absolutely evil abusive characters from more morally gray characters and act like liking goro is evil when he literally got #1 in the official popularity poll after the games release in japan over akira because though theres some flaws in the writing he was a good character and i love him a lot
Not only that, Loki himself is also a morally grey deity and Goro’s color in the chat is also grey. His outfit goes from White Prince to Black Knight. Atlus never tried to hide his true nature. That’s why he’s also one of my faves too, he’s very fascinating to analyze.
That’s because they are fixated in a certain trail of thought. And it’s exactly how you have said. I’ve also seen people comparing Goro to Kaworu when in fact he’s more similar to Shinji.
I agree with you, except I don’t think he saw them as friends, the only person he liked but refused to admit was Joker. Even then, his relationship with Joker is confusing in many aspects. It doesn’t help the fact his coop is automatic and Joker is a silent protagonist. But I’m sure what they said to him touched him in the end. Otherwise he wouldn’t put a stop to his cognitive self.
Goro needed to be worked on better, he lacked some depth. I’m hopeful a new release or DLC may approach his character better.
