Super random weird question but did Sade have like a specific room in Lacoste for his sex stuff? Like did he literally have a Sex Dungeon?
She doesn't give a source for it but Plessix-Gray's bio mentions that during Sade's renovations of the chateau, he added a "secret apartment" with "vaguely pornographic curiosities" the only of those curiosities that are directly mentioned in the written inventory of the building are "a large collection of enema syringes, which were decorated with drawings
of persons kneeling before naked behinds and saluting them."
And then according to my uni, the Maison Basse which is right outside of Lacoste and was traditionally a farmhouse for the chateau, doubled as a gambling den for Sade where he entertained guests and travellers:
He threw a lot of parties and stuff at Lacoste so I imagine that's where a lot of them started.
Oh and I know that there are actual dungeons under the chateau, it's the old village jail that Sade, as Lord of Lacoste, would have inherited the keys to. So in theory, he could have used those if he wanted.
