i love all birds and all bugs, so this blog is not for you if you hate any of them. whether that be geese, gulls, cuckoos (and other brood parasites) or raptors, or wasps, ticks, spiders or mosquitos. no exceptions.

while i do love all birds and bugs, i do have some favourites so you can click the read more if you wanna see those!

- accipitriformes [hawks, kites, eagles, ect] - all time favourite bird order, especially love buteoninae, perninae and elaninae - opiliones [harvestmen] - megabunus diadema i wanna see you so baddddddd - collembola [springtails] - ily globbies and neelids so much - falconiformes [falcons and caracaras] - aplomado falcons are my favourite non-accipitriforme birds hands down, also i love you caracaras you are all so smart, also laughing falcons, you are such freaks - cicadoidea [cicadas] - COME BACK TO ME CICADETTA MONTANA - caprimulgiformes [nightjars and nighthawks] - buncha freaks, theyre so cool, standard-winged nightjars, why are you like that - apodidae [swifts] - so so so awesome, did you know that they can go years without landing? - lanidae [shrikes] - gorgeous little fellows, really wanna see them

thinking about a lake i hiked to last year that was so small and cute. i jumped in to cool off and swam out to the middle, then looked down and saw trunks of entire dead trees dozens of feet below me and this is how i learned this particular lake is 100ft deep despite looking like a pond

my immediate first thoughts were 1) damn im glad im a strong swimmer because this is a lake that eats people who can't swim and 2) i thought i had gotten past my fear of open water until right now

really galling amount of people misinterpreting this post so i'd like to clarify. i'm saying that when discussions about patriarchal beauty standards and the way women are heavily shamed and coerced into eschewing their own natural state of being (hairy) are occurring, it is unhelpful (AT BEST) to interrupt and say that the reason YOU remove the hair from your body is because of sensory issues. that's not what we're talking about. stop asking for validation for doing something that society at large wants you to do. stop derailing the conversation because you feel uncomfortable about being made aware that you, for whatever reason it is, adhere to harmful, unfair and ridiculous beauty standards. you're stepping into the middle of an important conversation that needs to be had and making it all about you. shut the fuck up forever.

also quite frankly i think a lot less people would experience sensory issues if they let their hair grow out so that it isn't bristly and rough and irritating. and i cannot help but wonder why these sensory issues aren't as predominant in men. maybe you're uncomfortable with the hair on your body because you've been taught to be uncomfortable with it. just a thought.
