Two different things obviously but its fucking aggravating to see people brush off colorism like "its no big deal" brown skinned people RARELY get stories and when they do ITS ALWAAAYS WHEN THEYRE MIXED/RACIALLY AMBIGUOUS. Nani was BROWN skinned, she couldnt be mistaken for white like Nanis actress so clearly could be (Not saying she is but shes white passing and its OBVIOUS)
And no this isn't the same as Snow White and Ariel cuz white people have 10s and 1000s of fucking white characters. Sometimes POC deserve to be represented (i wish it was original characters/done with care and not for brownie points but. Unfortunately even now we cant have that.)
Anyways. Saw a post that was fucking tone deaf. (About Nani.) She SHOULDN'T be light skinned. It should not have been hard to find a brown skinned Hawaiian, and then to darken the actress' skin in the movie?? Fuck off. Like obviously the movie sucks shit but..thats also a major issue..like you cant talk about the alien nonsense and terrible ending without addressing the fact the lightened Nanis skin tone.
And with Clawdeen?? You bitches accepted the fact they made her mixed TOOOO damn easily just cuz Frankies nonbinary. Like cool thats great but why wait until Clawdeens more palatable to make her a main character?? Fuck off.
