there’s always one, no matter where they go. they always bring a dazzling smile to renesmee’s face, amazed by how brave they were. ( or stupid, uncle emmett would joke. )
there’s always one to make the first move, to walk right up to the most terrifying group of teenagers --- the group that makes humans both want to cling to them, and run away as quickly as possible, though perhaps they can’t recognize the flight or fight response, or explain it away. renesmee would love to have her daddy’s power in moments like these, but even daddy can’t see past their conscious mind into the workings below. she can never tell whether they’re explaining AWAY that response, or if they even notice it at all. what’s there to be scared of, after all? they’re just a group of siblings. strange, that some of them are dating, but siblings nonetheless. young, new, maybe scared.
sometimes they’re trying to IMPRESS their friends. sometimes they’re trying to prove something to themselves. renesmee can never tell, though if daddy’s around, he’ll whisper it to her. he knows how curious she is.
she’s never been approached by a human alone before. she doesn’t really know what to do. ᴄᴀɴ ʏᴏᴜ sɪɢɴ? nessie asks, purposefully slowing her fingers to be sure she was understood.
